By the end of Truth Circles, you will:
- Recognise and interpret your body's emotional signals before the mind has a chance to edit them
- Name your feelings and underlying needs with clarity, precision, and without self-judgment
- Communicate honestly using the Body → Feeling → Need → Request framework
- Receive difficult truths with greater openness and less defensiveness
- Navigate conflict as a signal — not a verdict — with tools for genuine repair
— INWARD —
You'll develop a foundational literacy in your own emotional and somatic experience — the essential starting point for honest communication.
The first four sessions turn attention inward — to your body, your feelings, your needs, and your voice.
Arriving in Your Body
Learning to read the signals your body is already sending — before the mind has a chance to edit them.
In this session, you will:
- Learn to identify where emotion lives in your body before it becomes a thought
- Practise somatic awareness as a communication tool
- Distinguish between physical sensation and emotional interpretation
Topics covered:
- Somatic awareness and the body as messenger
- The nervous system's role in emotional communication
- Body scanning as a daily practice
The Language of Feeling
Moving beyond “I’m fine” to name what’s actually true — with precision, without judgment.
In this session, you will:
- Learn to expand your emotional vocabulary beyond surface-level language
- Practise naming feelings with specificity and without self-criticism
- Distinguish between feelings and evaluations (“I feel hurt” vs. “I feel judged”)
Topics covered:
- Primary vs. secondary emotions
- The NVC feelings inventory
- Judgment language vs. feeling language
Underneath Every Feeling, a Need
Discovering the unmet need beneath the emotional noise — and why needs are never selfish.
In this session, you will:
- Learn to trace feelings back to their underlying needs
- Practise the Body → Feeling → Need sequence
- Reframe need-awareness as a relational strength, not a vulnerability
Topics covered:
- Universal human needs (NVC framework)
- The difference between needs and strategies
- Unlearning the belief that needs are selfish
Speaking Your Inner Truth
Saying what’s real — out loud, to another person — for the first time.
In this session, you will:
- Learn to articulate your inner experience clearly and without apology
- Practise speaking truth to a witness in a supported, confidential environment
- Experience speaking truth as survivable — even when scary
Topics covered:
- Shame resilience and vulnerability in communication
- Finding language for what has previously felt unspeakable
- The pivot from inner knowing to outer expression
— OUTWARD —
You'll turn your inner work outward — learning to make requests, receive honestly, and navigate rupture without retreat.
Sessions five through seven turn the inner work outward — into requests, reception, and repair.
Making Requests That Land
Turning needs into asks that invite a yes — without pressure, ultimatum, or apology.
In this session, you will:
- Learn to formulate clear, actionable requests grounded in genuine need
- Practise the full Body → Feeling → Need → Request chain
- Distinguish between a request and a demand
Topics covered:
- The anatomy of a well-formed request
- Requests vs. demands (NVC distinction)
- Communicating requests without over-explaining or apologising
The Art of Being Received
Learning to hear hard things with grace — even when it’s uncomfortable.
In this session, you will:
- Learn to listen for the need beneath another person's words
- Practise receiving difficult truths without immediately defending
- Develop the capacity to hold space while remaining emotionally present
Topics covered:
- Empathic listening vs. reactive listening
- The physiology of defensiveness
- Receiving critiques with grace
Conflict Without Casualties
Finding your way back to each other, even under pressure.
In this session, you will:
- Learn to recognise conflict as a signal, not a verdict
- Practise repair tools for moments of rupture
- Apply the full NVC framework in a high-stakes communication scenario
Topics covered:
- Rupture and repair in close relationships
- De-escalation through needs-based language
- Grace under fire: applying the framework when it matters most
— INTEGRATION —
You'll consolidate your learning, commit to ongoing practice, and leave with a clear personal communication intention.
The final session weaves everything together and sends you forward.
Carrying the Truth Forward
Closing ritual, commitment, and the practices that make this a permanent shift — not just an eight-week experience.
In this session, you will:
- Reflect on your personal arc across all eight sessions
- Articulate a concrete communication intention to carry forward
- Participate in the closing ritual and receive the program's final offering
Topics covered:
- Integration vs. completion: the difference between ending and beginning
- Building a sustainable personal communication practice
- Community commitment and the closing ritual
